LOWER SWATARA TOWNSHIP BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PUBLIC MEETING 11-01-17

On November 1, 2017, Ron Paul addresses the current Lower Swatara Township Board of Commissioners to set the record straight regarding his employment contract, the details of which have become fodder for a recent negative political campaign courtesy of Better PA PAC.

THE TRUTH ABOUT RON'S EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT VS. THE FALSE ACCUSATIONS ON THE NEGATIVE FLYER:

FACT - Ron Paul saved the township nearly ONE MILLION dollars serving as the Planning and Zoning Director while he was also the Township Manager for 16 years.

FACT - The board of commissioners voted UNANIMOUSLY to approve the employment agreement that delineated Ron's retirement pension and benefits.

FACT - The board of commissioners establishes, mandates, and authorizes ALL pay increases and controls, by ordinance, the non-uniformed pension plan. NOT RON PAUL. The 49% increase noted on the flyer equates to an average yearly increase of 1.4%.

FACT - This employment agreement was entered into based on the advice of Lower Swatara Township's Legal counsel as a means to protect both the township and the manager.

FACT - The footnote on the flyer conveniently notes that the the township debt and expense percentages are based on information from 2001-2013. RON PAUL was the manager from 1996-2011. This means the numbers are skewed to make you believe he was not a fiscally responsible manager. THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER is this: debt and expenses are paid for by residents’ tax dollars. During Ron Paul’s 16-year tenure as township manager there was one tax increase in the amount of 1.0 mil in 2005. In 2012 – 2013, AFTER MY RETIREMENT, taxes increased by a total amount of 1.22 mils.

We encourage open dialogue and would love the opportunity to represent you. If you were unable to attend the event, watching the video below should give you a good sense of our knowledge, experience, and where we stand on many of the current issues facing our community.
